Colleen asked me to write about the podcasts I’m listening to these days. Turns out that it was almost exactly a year ago that I wrote my last podcast list. Some stuff has changed in the last year, some hasn’t.

A few things to note: I’ve listed the podcast title, and I’ve linked to wherever the podcast links to. I you can’t find the podcast at that link, go to iTunes and search for the title I’ve given.

I’ve noticed that the sermon podcasts that I listen to are basically just people I know, people I want to keep following. I don’t really listen to sermons for information, so the sermons you’ll find in here are all people I know or follow closely in some way.

There’s a lot of sports podcasts in this group! I think partly this is due to the fact that I love a good interview, and even though I perhaps only listen to 10% of the episodes, I also notice that I listen to sports when I’m going to sleep, as they help my brain settle down.

I’d love to know what you’re listening to also!

Easy - I don’t listen or watch them all, but I have them around for when the mood strikes. I *regularly* listen to the Lost podcasts, This American Life, Delta Park Project. I pick and choose from the others.

If you would like to see all posts filed in the Digressions category, click here. I added a kickass new podcast to my list last week: Watching Theology (link opens in iTunes). The podcast explores “the theological, philosophical, and thematic content of a single film.” The episode I listened to was on Casino Royale (2006), and it was fantastic. Introduction

Welcome! I'm Pat, and I'll be your host here. Please comment on what you see here. I am a lay missionary to North Bend on the east side of Seattle, a husband, dad to 2 kids, a software test architect for DeepRockDrive, a web software company that does live, interactive concerts streamed over the Internet. I'm also a failed and (quite possibly future) church planter and a Doctor of Ministry student with Bakke Graduate University, and usually on this blog we discuss Christian spirituality (especially of the Celtic, post-Evangelical, post-Charismatic and neo-monastic flavors), photography, motorcycles, and other oddball things.

About the Coracle

The ancient Celts traveled in coracles - handmade, wooden framed and hide-covered boats, to journey where the trinitarian God led them. Though the transportation was simple, the journey was profound. This image is an illustration of the way I experience God's guidance - an invitation to travel with him on his paths, not mine; at his pace, not mine.
